Thursday - Work in the day, met my friend downtown right after work for dinner, then crashed at her house for an early Friday morning

Friday - Went to the Marilyn Denis show, Thanks to Blissdom Canada. ?The entire show was bloggers who were attending the conference. ? Then in the afternoon I got a prenatal massage, (Amazing) and then made cupcakes for my baby shower on Sunday, then a family dinner in the evening.?

Saturday - Went to the Blissdom Canada Conference from about 7am-6pm, ?then went out for dinner and since I am now almost 36 weeks pregnant I crashed and went to bed quite early. ? Not that I slept well but I was in bed.?

Sunday - Went for a pre-baby shower manicure/pedicure, then baby shower and then had some friends hang out afterwards for some games. ??

So clearly very little time for writing and posting. This Monday started conference #2 with Online BlogCon. At least with this one I don't have to read everything right away and I can come back to those posts. ? I can barely keep up with the facebook posts let alone the BlogCon posts.?

Here are my thoughts on Blissdom starting with the Marilyn Denis show. ?It was very cool to see how the show operates. ? The timing, moving things around, getting people ready, it was all very quick. ?The hour flew by, ?started and then it was done, just like that. ? ?It was exciting to get some gift cards and a book as some giveaways as well. ? It was pretty fun, ?although it wasn't to then see myself on TV later on when I watched it.

The conference started Friday night with a small event I didn't attend. ?When I first booked the tickets to go to Blissdom Canada, ?I did not know I would be 36 weeks pregnant at the same time so I had to pick and choose what I felt I could attend. ? My focus was obviously the main conference day. ? It started with a newcomers meet and greet, which was quick but great to meet a few new comers as well. ? After that there was breakfast, which was a little disappointing as it only consisted of granola, fruit and yogurt and then a presentation by Dove which was simply their commercial on TV done in person.?After the opening remarks, the morning consisted of mircosessions, which sounded promising as the topics were very relevant and interesting. ?Unfortunately with only a half an hour each there wasn't really enough time it seemed to get into any great detail, ?I would have loved some more in depth content. We also only had time to attend three mircosessions out of about 25 that all had the potential for great information. ?The afternoon consisted of 5 speakers with Jian Gomeshi being the first and best. ? Not that he talked a lot about blogging, he is just a great speaker and was very funny. ? I am very interested to get his book now.
??

I did meet a lot of really great people at the conference which is obviously one of the key reasons to go. ?Blissdom is full of really fun, passionate people and that was probably the best part for me as I still left thriving for some more content when I left. ?The other bonus was leaving with a great amount of free products and swag from the sponsors, that is always a nice perk.

Sunday was my baby shower so I did skip out on the Blissdom excursions day. ?I am not upset however as my baby shower was fantastic. ?My family did an amazing job at putting it all together. ?Pink and green turtles were everywhere, ?with tons of games, crafts and lots of delicious food. ?I got to see lots of friends and family, got some great advice and the baby got spoiled.? Hubby and I are now pretty much set for baby's upcoming arrival, now we anxiously wait for the next 4 weeks. ?It was really an overwhelming day full of a lot of love.

A few of my favorite things... Sea turtle cupcakes decorated by my sister and a create your own onesie craft that my sister in law planned.

With Blissdom last weekend and Online Blogcon earlier this week I have met so many new bloggers and been exposed to tons and tons of great new blogs. ? For this reason I need to get back into my Five Friday Pin Up. ? Here are some great things I pinned over the last little while.

1) Tomato Basil Parmesan Soup by We pass the time of day to forget how time passes :?http://pinterest.com/pin/149744756331466585/? ? ?I have been addicted to tomato soup lately. I have to make this.

2) Grandma's Lasagna by Wishes N Dishes :?http://pinterest.com/pin/149744756331553426/
Seriously, just look at this.

3) Broccoli and Cheese Muffins by It all tastes Greek to Me :?http://pinterest.com/pin/149744756331623841/? ? ?I want these for breakfast tomorrow.

4) Pumpkin Caramel Kiss Cookies by Something Swanky :?http://pinterest.com/pin/149744756331551969/? ? ?Oh pumpkin you do us right in so many ways.

5) Peanut Butter Glazed Chocolate Chip Donuts by A Kitchen Addiction :?http://pinterest.com/pin/149744756331624341/? ?

I am still behind on the Online Blogcon posts and catching up with all the attendees blogs/pages/twitter/pinterest so my debrief on that will be in the next couple days.

Have a SWEET weekend!

Telepresence and videoconferencing managed service provider Providea Conferencing announced that it will be acquired yesterday by Strategic Products and Services (SPS), a multi-vendor systems integration firm for an undisclosed sum.? The acquisition strengthens SPS' service portfolio of design, installation, and management of converged communication solutions, contact center solutions, IP telephony, unified communications, mobile communication, and internetworking.?? SPS is one of Avaya's top ten partners and has been on an acquisition spree for the past three years buying a number of Avaya solution providers including: Jones Communications (March 2012), Imagine Technologies (December 2011) , Spenser Communications (February 2011), Consultedge (August 2010),? Digivoice (2009)?? and PhoneXtr (2008).? The Company is funded by Court Square Capital Partners, a private equity firm that is reported to manage over $6 billion in capital.

The acquisition of Providea substantially strengthens the SPS portfolio in managed video services including both multi-camera, multi-codec telepresence environments, traditional videoconferencing, unified communications, and other AV disciplines related to visual collaboration.? The company was Polycom's Partner of the Year in 2012, had won Internet Telephony's Product of the Year in 2011 for their ClearTrac Control System, and had been specializing in Inter-Company telepresence and videoconferencing connecting enterprise customers to partners, vendors, and customers through a partnership with IP-V Gateways.? ?

This acquisition is one of four acquisitions of video managed service providers in 2012 with an additional six in 2010 and 2011.? The world is starting to figure out that managing inter-operability of disparate video systems, inter-connecting with multiple carrier and enterprise networks to maintain quality between business partners, and integrating video with unified communications applications is a complicated business and there are only a small handful of firms on the planet that do it well.? Especially on the high-end.? Those companies are getting snapped up by strong hands in a trend that appears to be accelerating.? Whose left?

In alphabetical order my list of the best of the rest: BCS Global,? IVCi, Glowpoint, Teliris, and YorkTel.? I predict the cloud-based interoperability providers like Blue Jeans and VidTel are probably getting eyed in this trend as well.

Thu, 25 Oct 2012 18:12:10 -0700 China ends nuke plant ban set after Japan disaster http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/china-ends-nuke-plant-ban-set-after-japan-dis http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/china-ends-nuke-plant-ban-set-after-japan-dis

BEIJING (AP) ? China has decided to approve new nuclear power plants as part of plans to reduce reliance on oil and coal, ending the moratorium it imposed to review safety in the wake of Japan's Fukushima disaster last year.

The government's decision Wednesday that nuclear power is safe for China takes the country in the opposite direction from some developed nations such as Germany, which decided in the wake of the Fukushima disaster to speed its complete phase-out of nuclear power. Japan is planning to phase it out by 2040.

China is the world's biggest energy consumer, and building new reactors is a key part of Beijing's plans to curb demand for fossil fuels.

The communist government is aggressively promoting alternatives to coal and oil in order to reduce pollution and curb its reliance on imported petroleum, which it sees as a national security risk. Still, coal is forecast to remain the country's main energy source for decades.

The government said Wednesday it hopes to generate 30 percent of China's power from solar, wind and other renewable sources, as well as from nuclear energy, by the end of 2015. That's up from an earlier target of 15 percent from renewables plus 5 percent from nuclear by 2020.

The Cabinet on Wednesday passed plans on nuclear power safety and development that said construction of nuclear power plants would resume "steadily."

Only a small number of plants will be built, and only in coastal areas, according to a Cabinet announcement. The plants will meet the most stringent safety standards, it said.

No date was given for resuming construction of nuclear plants. Despite widespread public concern over possible radiation contamination from the Fukushima disaster and calls for improved safety precautions and emergency preparedness, China remains committed to building up nuclear power to help reduce emissions from coal-fired plants and curb its reliance on costly oil imports.

China suspended approvals of new nuclear plants after a tsunami triggered by the massive March 11, 2011, earthquake crippled the Fukushima plant's cooling and backup power systems, causing partial meltdowns in the worst nuclear disaster since the 1986 Chernobyl catastrophe.

China's leaders ordered safety checks for existing nuclear facilities, a review of projects under construction and improved safety standards.

"The inspection results show that nuclear security is guaranteed in China," according to a government report on its energy policy also released Wednesday. "China implements the principle of 'safety first' in the whole process of nuclear power station planning."

China currently has 15 nuclear reactors that provide about 12.5 gigawatts of generating capacity, and another 26 reactors are under construction that will add 30 gigawatts, the report said.

Nuclear power accounts for only 1.8 percent of power in China, it said.

The government report also said that China is now 90 percent energy self-sufficient, but acknowledged high demand will continue to put a strain on resources.

It also warned of "grave challenges" to its energy security in its growing dependence on imported petroleum. Imports accounted for a third of total petroleum consumption in the early 2000s and have jumped to nearly 60 percent now, the report said.

China will also encourage private companies to participate in exploration and development of energy resources, it said.

Tue, 23 Oct 2012 17:56:00 -0700 BBC airs unseen expose on its disgraced star http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/bbc-airs-unseen-expose-on-its-disgraced-star http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/bbc-airs-unseen-expose-on-its-disgraced-star

LONDON (AP) ? BBC reporters put their own bosses in the hot seat over their role in an expanding pedophilia scandal, airing footage from a previously unseen expose of one of the BBC's most popular entertainers and quizzing senior management about why they canned the bombshell program.

Monday night's powerful but often awkward broadcast centered on revelations that late children's television star Jimmy Savile was one of the country's most prolific predators, suspected of sexually assaulting more than 200 children over his decades-long career. The scandal's explosion has cut an ugly gash through the venerable broadcaster's public image, a wound made all the worse by the revelation that executives there scrapped what would have been a hard-hitting expose of Savile's misdeeds last year.

Tim Burt, a managing partner of the Stockwell Communications crisis management firm, said the BBC faces a major blow to its reputation at a time when it is entering delicate negotiations with the government about the terms of its charter.

"To have a civil war inside on a matter of editorial judgment and the handling of potentially criminal investigations could not have come at worse time," he said.

The broadcast set out to explain why the Savile investigation was never televised. The answer remains murkier than ever ? the BBC stopped short of accusing any of its bosses of a cover-up ? but viewers were given harrowing testimony about the scale of the abuse, including allegations that girls and, in at least one case, a boy, were forced to have sex with Savile in his car, his camper van, or dingy dressing rooms on BBC premises.

"I'm so full of self-disgust. I can't believe that I did such things," said Karin Ward, who described being cajoled into giving the presenter sexual favors when she was just a young teen. She said she should have tried to put a stop to it but "I didn't. None of us did."

The program was surreal in parts, not least because nearly all the children who surrounded Savile in archival footage were shown with their faces blurred out ? each one of them a potential victim of sexual abuse. Also bizarre was the fact that the BBC was effectively conducting a televised inquisition into itself. One particularly striking scene involved a journalist bombarding BBC boss George Entwistle with questions on what appeared to be his morning commute.

"I've never seen an organization do such a knocking job on itself," commented ITV journalist Kenny Toal. "Fair play to the journalists who spoke up against their bosses."

BBC editor Peter Rippon ? who stepped down temporarily only hours before the show was aired ? was hit by some of the hardest knocks. Under fire from his two reporters, he was shown to have put out a series of misleading statements about the documentary. Emails appeared to show he was enthusiastic about the expose at first, but abruptly changed his mind for reasons that remain unexplained.

Reaction was mixed, with some viewers criticizing the BBC for not having pushed its executives harder. Others congratulated the broadcaster on a compelling broadcast that must have been difficult to organize. The Mirror's deputy television editor Mark Jefferies said in a message posted to Twitter that the program was "very thorough, compelling and depressing" and which he said showed the BBC "at its best."

"Sadly it was highlighting BBC at its worst," he said.

The scandal and the alleged cover-up have already drawn unusual criticism from the prime minister.

"The nation is appalled, we are all appalled by the allegations of what Jimmy Savile did and they seem to get worse by the day," David Cameron said earlier Monday.

The BBC can expect harsh treatment at the hands of Britain's newspapers, said Bob Calver, a lecturer in broadcast journalism at Birmingham City University. He suggested that publications from Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. empire, which has been shaken by revelations of widespread criminality at its newspapers, would be particularly harsh.

"The print media will not let this story go," he said. "Because BBC was not implicated in the phone hacking scandal, it was pointing the finger at the print media, which has long felt that the BBC is smug and gets special treatment. This is an opportunity for the print media to come back at them."

There seemed to be every sign of that late Monday. Murdoch's The Sun newspaper said that BBC chiefs were "accused of betraying license fee payers by misleading the public over pervert Jimmy Savile." BBC's revenues are paid by license fees from viewers.

Asked how the BBC could have avoided some of the scandal, producer Meirion Jones answered: "Very easily. By broadcasting a story about Jimmy Savile and how he was a pedophile."

Tue, 23 Oct 2012 00:37:22 -0700 Paranormal Activity 4 Review: Scary? Or Just ... - News For Shoppers! http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/paranormal-activity-4-review-scary-or-just-ne http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/paranormal-activity-4-review-scary-or-just-ne

Paranormal Activity 4It?s October again, which means one thing for the world of movies: it?s time for yet another installment of ?Paranormal Activity?.

The found footage franchise has been making?an impact with moviegoers for over 3 years now, and after an interquel and a prequel, it is time to finally continue the horror story in ?Paranormal Activity 4.

Though the film will bring in a crowd, is the new installment going scare the pants off moviegoers?

The plot behind ?Paranormal Activity 4? revolves around a family being haunted by a demonic presence that seeks something within their home. Does this sound familiar? It should because the plot to this film is just a rehash of its previous predecessor. It is one thing to follow the same formula, but it is another thing to keep to the structure and not establish anything; and that is exactly what ?Paranormal Activity 4? does.

?Paranormal Activity? is not known for having fleshed out characters, and the fourth installment continues that trend. The majority of the film follows Alex as she tries to figure what is wrong with the house. This kind of character is nothing new for this franchise, so it leaves no impression. Other characters either fall under being uninteresting or just being nonexistent.

Though the story and characters have fallen through, perhaps the scares make this film worth the price of admission. If that is your thought process, then allow me to be the bearer of bad news. The only terrifying moments in ?Paranormal Activity 4? are the nonstop bombardment of jump scares. ?A jump scare is good ?very now and again, but when the entire scare tactic is nothing but startling moments, then the horror film is no longer scarey. It?s just annoying.

As you can imagine, ?Paranormal Activity 4??is not a good time at the movies. The film establishes nothing to move the so called plot along; and to top it all off, it?s really not that terrifying. Movie-goers will be startled every now and again, but the scary moments will leave your mind as soon as they pass.? I have never been a fan of this film series, but ?Paranormal Activity 4? not only succeeded at being a disappointment, it found a way to make this franchise even staler.

Mon, 22 Oct 2012 22:29:58 -0700 Fishy physics: Adaptation lets silvery fish reflect light without polarization, may help them evade predators http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/fishy-physics-adaptation-lets-silvery-fish-re http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/fishy-physics-adaptation-lets-silvery-fish-re

ScienceDaily (Oct. 21, 2012) ? Silvery fish such as herring, sardine and sprat have evolved special skin that gets around a basic law of physics, according to new research from the University of Bristol published Oct. 21 in Nature Photonics.

Reflective surfaces polarize light, a phenomenon that fishermen or photographers overcome by using polarizing sunglasses or polarizing filters to cut our reflective glare. However, PhD student Tom Jordan and his supervisors Professor Julian Partridge and Dr Nicholas Roberts in Bristol's School of Biological Sciences found that these silvery fish have overcome this basic law of reflection -- an adaptation that may help them evade predators.

Previously, it was thought that the fish's skin -- which contains "multilayer" arrangements of reflective guanine crystals -- would fully polarize light when reflected. As the light becomes polarized, there should be a drop in reflectivity.

The Bristol researchers found that the skin of sardines and herring contain not one but two types of guanine crystal -- each with different optical properties. By mixing these two types, the fish's skin doesn't polarize the reflected light and maintains its high reflectivity.

Dr Roberts said: "We believe these species of fish have evolved this particular multilayer structure to help conceal them from predators, such as dolphin and tuna. These fish have found a way to maximize their reflectivity over all angles they are viewed from. This helps the fish best match the light environment of the open ocean, making them less likely to be seen."

As a result of this ability, the skin of silvery fish could hold the key to better optical devices. Tom Jordan said: "Many modern day optical devices such as LED lights and low loss optical fibres use these non-polarizing types of reflectors to improve efficiency. However, these human-made reflectors currently require the use of materials with specific optical properties that are not always ideal. The mechanism that has evolved in fish overcomes this current design limitation and provides a new way to manufacture these non-polarizing reflectors."

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) ? Iran's state prosecutor says he has denied permission to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to visit an imprisoned advisor, a further sign of the Iranian president's rapidly waning influence.

Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehi is quoted by the press as saying that Ahmadinejad's request to visit Evin prison is suspected to be politically motivated.

Ahmadinejad demanded to visit Evin after his top press advisor Ali Akbar Javanfekr was jailed last month after being convicted of publishing material deemed insulting to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Ahmadinejad once had the backing of Iran's clerical establishment but lost it when he was perceived to challenge Khamenei last year.

Ejehi said the president would do better to work on Iran's deepening economic problems that to visit Evin.

His remarks were published in several Iranian newspapers Monday.

I feel like after everything I have been through my patience is just gone when it comes to core issues. I hate that and I don't know how to stop. I feel like he isn't anything like my ex and our MC validates that. He refuses to fight with me and then it just makes me feel like I'm the "crazy" one.

Honestly it's amazing I am able to function in a marriage at all when I think about it. I said for a long time that I could never get married again after what my ex put me through. And here I am, the angry one.

Yes, you are angry. And you absolutely must deal with your own anger issues in order to function properly in a relationship. You don't know how to stop? If your MC isn't giving you exercises and tools to stop, then find a new MC.

So he refuses to fight with you? I hope you realize how fortunate you are, because it sounds like you are just spoiling for a knock-down, drag-out fight.

And that will solve ... WHAT? Will it absolve your anger? Will it resolve your issues? Doubt it.

Uh, no offense intended, but you DO sound like the "crazy" one here. And I don't think you are crazy at all.

JMO, but I think behind every angry person is a very hurt person who doesn't want to face the hurt.

Maybe it is time for you to address the hurt and say to heck with the anger. Heal the pain, and the healing of anger will follow.

Again, JMO.

Mavash said: Just the other night he did something that bothered me and I felt him withdrawing when I tried to discuss it with him. I took a deep breathe and started over. I came at him with love, compassion, patience and vulnerability. I kept my voice low and soothing. That totally worked.

Dealing with men like this takes skill. But you must be willing to humble yourself first to be able to do it and that isn't easy either.

So very true....about the humilty.

About coming to him with - love, compassion, patience and vulnerability. When I was younger, I had some anger issues going on....not too pleased with God... didn't like my family life/situation... my husband never seemed to take this personally -he knew it wasn't about him. I purposely read a couple books on ANGER to understand my emotions & do what I could do to get them in check.... this was all I needed, I even got a book on Humility -thinking I could Up this some.

My husband is like some of your husbands here, naturally more a peace maker -conflict not his thing... I have always been able to talk to him about anything though, he never clams up , tries to leave.... It is likely because I have always shown a vulnerable side, humble and sensitive before him.... if I hurt him or did anything wrong from my end, I was always quick to come to him, make it right...put my actions where my mouth was.... soothe him as best I could...until he was "with me in spirit" - this is so very important for connection..and leading another to feel safe with us.

NY rips off 26 straight in rematch of NFC Championship to win 26-3

updated 7:36 p.m. ET Oct. 14, 2012

SAN FRANCISCO - Antrel Rolle and the New York Giants studied Alex Smith so much they practically knew what was coming.

On one play in the third quarter, even running back Ahmad Bradshaw screamed from the sideline: "Trail. He's watching you." Rolle responded, pretended he was playing the ball and sliced in front of Kyle Williams on a short hook.

"He threw the ball right to me," Rolle said.

After a slow start this season, New York's defense saved its best for the 49ers yet again.

Rolle intercepted two passes by Smith, Prince Amukamara picked off another and the Giants shut down San Francisco in a 26-3 victory Sunday in a rematch of last season's NFC championship game.

"I think this is our most complete game all year long," Rolle said.

After outscoring the Bills and Jets by a combined 79-3 the last two weeks, the 49ers (4-2) met their match again. No overtime needed this time, and not much of Eli Manning, either.

Manning threw for 193 yards and one touchdown, Bradshaw ran for 116 yards and a score and New York (4-2) rode that dominant defense and four field goals by Lawrence Tynes to hand outspoken 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh the most lopsided loss of his tenure.

The 49ers had not allowed a 100-yard rusher in previous 22 home games. The last time one was Tennessee's Chris Johnson, who ran for 135 yards on Nov. 8, 2009

What a San Francisco treat.

"We were just waiting for them to play like we know they can play," Manning said of New York's defense. "They played outstanding. They played really well, flying around."

The Giants grinded out a 20-17 overtime win at rain-soaked Candlestick Park on Jan. 22, capitalizing on two fumbles punts by Williams en route to another Super Bowl title over the Patriots. All week, some San Francisco players talked about "unfinished business," and Harbaugh added to the hype when he fired back a strongly worded statement criticizing Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride, who had said All-Pro defensive end Justin Smith often "gets away with murder" holding linemen.

For all the hoopla, the rematch was never close.

Amukamara's interception in the second quarter started a surge of New York offense. Smith, who wore tape around his sprained middle finger that he said wasn't an issue, lofted the pass too high and allowed Amukamara to leap underneath the ball before tight end Delanie Walker even had a chance at the Giants 33.

At one point in the first half, Manning completed eight consecutive passes for 142 yards and had the usually stout San Francisco defense out of sorts. Domenik Hixon tip-toed the sideline to catch passes of 39 and 16 yards on consecutive third downs, and Victor Cruz followed with a 6-yard touchdown reception and his usual salsa dance in the end zone for a 7-3 lead.

"The statement made," Cruz said, "is that we're here to stay."

Tynes kicked a 34-yard field goal for a 10-3 lead and Tarell Brown blocked a 40-yard attempt by Tynes, which led to David Akers' miss wide left from 52 yards as the half expired.

Akers, who tied the NFL record with a 63-yard field goal in a Week 1 win at Green Bay, also hooked a 43-yarder wide right on San Francisco's first drive. He made a 42-yarder from the same right hash mark. The All-Pro kicker is 11 of 16 this season.

"It wasn't a great day for any of us," Harbaugh said.

Once the break was over, the Giants sent San Francisco spiraling down and out in a New York minute.

David Wilson returned the second-half kickoff 66 yards to set up Bradshaw's 1-yard TD run. That quieted the Candlestick crowd - except for the Giants fans that sprinkled the stands blue on a sun-splashed day along the bay.

On San Francisco's next two possessions, Rolle intercepted Smith's passes. The first came on an overthrown pass intended for former Giant Mario Manningham that Rolle returned 20 yards to the San Francisco 12. On the second, he stepped in front of a pass to Williams and ran 22 yards to the San Francisco 5.

"I could tell, at times, we had him a little rattled," Rolle said.

"It's tough to speak about any other facet," Smith said. "We made it tough on the defense."

The only downside for New York is it settled for field goals both times. Then again, not many points were needed.

The Giants sacked Smith six times and had him under constant pressure, made worse when left tackle Joe Staley left with a concussion in the third quarter. Smith finished 19 of 30 for 200 yards, and the 49ers were held to 80 yards rushing.

"The nice thing was the pounding away of the pencil on the defensive line," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. "I think the defensive line finally decided they were going to come out and play today and they did."

The 49ers were coming off a 45-3 home romp against Buffalo, racking up a franchise-record 621 yards and becoming the first team in NFL history with 300 yards passing and 300 yards rushing in the same game. This time, they were smashed.

"Coaches always let us know that we're not the kings of the NFL, the Giants are," 49ers cornerback Carlos Rogers said. "They won a title last year and they're still that team to beat until somebody wins the Super Bowl."

Sun, 14 Oct 2012 22:59:39 -0700 Slain Gaza militants were senior Qaeda affiliates http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/slain-gaza-militants-were-senior-qaeda-affili http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/slain-gaza-militants-were-senior-qaeda-affili

Gaza (Reuters) - Two Gaza militants killed by Israel on Saturday were the most senior al Qaeda affiliates in the Palestinian enclave, and one had links to jihadi networks in Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, sources said on Sunday.

Hisham al-Saedni and Ashraf al-Sabah, who were killed by an air strike as they rode a motorcycle, were ultra-conservative Salafi Islamists.

Armed Salafis, while a fringe presence in Gaza, have been stepping up violence against Israel while at times clashing with the Palestinian Hamas government. They also operate in the neighboring Egyptian Sinai.

Saedni and Sabah were leaders, respectively, of the Tawhid wa-Jihad and Ansar Al-Sunna groups, two Salafi sources said. The movements share al Qaeda's vision of global jihad and opposed the more pragmatic Islamism espoused by Hamas and Cairo's politically dominant Muslim Brotherhood.

The men had recently merged their groups to form the umbrella Majles Shoura Al-Mujahideen (Holy Warriors' Guidance Council), the sources said, becoming the de facto heads of the diffuse Gaza jihadi network.

"Their blood will be a light to guide the holy warriors through the right path and will be fire that will burn the Jews," one of the sources told Reuters, saying reprisals would not be limited to the short-range rocket launches that are Gaza militants' favored mode of attack on Israel.

The Salafi sources said Gaza-born Saedni, 47, had lived in Egypt and Jordan and had fought for al Qaeda in Iraq. He had been wanted by Egypt on suspicion of involvement in attacks on tourist sites there.

Israel said the militant, who was freed from a Hamas jail in August after 11 months' locked up, had been behind a string of rocket and bomb attacks against the country and had planned to carry out a militant operation on its Sinai border.

"The Global Jihad is stepping up its efforts to target us, and we will continue to interdict it with aggression and might, in terms of both response and pre-emption," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the Israeli cabinet in Jerusalem on Sunday.

In a sign of Salafi assertiveness in Gaza, about 500 mourners attended Saedni's and Sabah's funerals on Sunday. Some wore the smocks typical of the al Qaeda bastions in Pakistan and Afghanistan but relatively uncommon among Palestinians.

Jihadi gunmen have raided Israel through the Sinai, a desert peninsula which has seen a surge of lawlessness during the political upheaval that has rocked Cairo since early 2011 including an August 5 massacre of Egyptian border policemen that drew an unprecedented Egyptian security sweep.

On Sunday, a separate Israeli air strike killed a Palestinian gunman and wounded another in southern Gaza, near the Sinai border. The military said the men - also targeted while on a motorcycle - had been planning to fire rockets into Israel.

In another incident, a rocket landed in Israeli territory but caused no damage, a military spokeswoman said.

Tue, 01 May 2012 21:05:57 -0700 How To Learn French And Speak Fluently Like A Native ... http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/how-to-learn-french-and-speak-fluently-like-a http://tomogiasa.posterous.com/how-to-learn-french-and-speak-fluently-like-a

?

English is a Germanic language, while French is a Latin language. Despite this, English speakers might find it easier to learn French than to master other languages, such as Korean. Both England and France had a lot of influence over each other throughout the years. One of the first steps when determining how to learn French is to learn the major differences between French and English.

Accents are one thing found on French words that are not found on most English words. Accents can change how a word is pronounced. French conjugations are different for each grammatical person, while they are different for third person singular in English.

Another thing that English speakers might find strange is that all nouns and most pronouns have a gender. Many adjectives, nouns, verbs and articles have different forms depending on the gender of the noun. English speakers might also have a hard time remembering how silent consonants at the end of words are pronounced at the beginning of the next word.

In the early stages, French students should learn basic French vocabulary and learn the differences between French and English grammar. Doing so will lay the groundwork for the student?s education. The good news is that there are many words that are shared between English and French. There are also many words that are similar to English, but not identical. However, English-speaking students should be careful, since many words might sound like an English equivalent, but mean something completely different.

As students become more comfortable with learning how to write and speak French, they should try to get into a conversation with someone about French. Two English-speaking students can practice French together. However, if either student makes a mistake, they might not notice the mistake. For this reason, students are better off either taking a class and receiving assistance from a qualified instructor or having conversations with native French speakers.

Those who wish to become fluent in French will eventually want to find an opportunity to have conversations with native French speakers. Only a native speaker would be able to determine if a non-native French speaker is pronouncing French correctly. Students also can develop more confidence when speaking to native French speakers, since they will then know for sure that they are using French correctly.

The best way to practice French is to spend a lot of time in a country that predominantly speaks French, a technique known as immersion. Those who are immersed in a culture will be forced to develop competency as a French speaker. Those immersed in a French culture should make sure to consume anything they can in French. They should not visit English language websites and should spend most of their time speaking to French speakers in their native language. Non-native French speakers should also practice thinking in French. For example, when creating a list of things to do, the non-native speaker should think about the things that must be completed while using the French words.

Not everyone can visit a French-speaking country. Fortunately, there are many online services that will teach people how to learn French by setting them up with a language exchange. Language exchange services have students take turns speaking their native language and the foreign language that they wish to learn. This can be done face-to-face or online.
